Analysis on the Relationship Between the Configuration and Optical Activity of Tartaric Acid and Glyceraldehyde

On the basis of the helix theory proposed by the authors,the relationship between sructure and rotatory direction is analyzed for the tartaric acid and glyceraldehyde.The results show that there is a close correlation between structure and optical activity in both compounds even if they can form many hydrogen bonds.
