We screened the inhibition ability to FAS(fatty acid synthase) for 106 warm and 119 cold TCMs(traditional Chinese medicines) in the Chinese Pharmacopiea. It is found that the frequency of strong inhibition to FAS in warming interior medicines and dissipating interior cold medicines is very high, and that in fire purging, deficiency heat purging, and heat purging-vision improving medicines is very low. The direct effect on the energy metabolism system may be a factor in formation of the warm or cold character of TCM.
