Abstract: Generally, single-electrode excitation strategy is used for a 3D ECT (electrical capacitance tomography). In this study, the stability of multi-electrode excitation strategies is investigated by using a three-plane ECT sensor for the 3D image reconstruction. Three excitation strategies, including the single-electrode excitation, dual-electrode excitation in the same plane, and dual-electrode excitation in different planes, are considered for comparison. Landweber iteration algorithm is used for image reconstruction. The effect of excitation strategy on image quality and stability is investigated by using the noise-free and noisy data in terms of correlation coefficient. Based on the simulation results, the stability of the three excitation strategies is evaluated.
