Abstract:

Using TOPEX/Poseidon satellite altimeter data, and seawater temperature and salinity estimated from WOA98 model, we calculated sea level height variation caused by seawater density change in multi-layers.The result shows that seawater density change is an important factor on sea level height variation at seasonal time scale. The displacement at Shanghai GPS station and J2variation in Earth's gravity field are quite different, while sea level height variation caused by seawater density change is removed or included from TOPEX/Poseidon observat ion.The result show s that i t is more important to separate sea level height variation caused by seawater density change in the study of Earth dynamic problem.
