Abstract: Detailed characterization of extrasolar planetary atmosphere is one of the hottest and most challenging research topics nowadays, which relies on high precision photometric or spectroscopic data. Using our secondary eclipse observation of the hot Jupiter WASP-103b by the WIRCam on the CFHT as example, we describe the demands on instruments, observation strategy and data analysis to achieve ultra-high precision. With our techniques, it is proved to be feasible to reach a precision down to ~10-4 using ground-based telescopes.

Key words: exoplanet, hot Jupiter, ground-based observation, error analysis, high-precision photometry
